On National Rum Day, August 16, the contemporary American restaurant will be serving up a spirited duet, including the Tropical Martini ($13) a swashbuckling treat loaded with Flor de Cana rum, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, pineapple juice, and a splash of grenadine. Rum-tailers will swoon for City Cellar’s homage, the Dragonberry Strawberry Mojito ($10). Crafted by Shawn Powell, the restaurant’s beverage manager and mixologist, the boozy blockbuster pops with strawberry purée, fresh mint, Bacardi Dragonberry rum, and a twist of lime poured over ice and crowned with club soda. We think Captain Jack Sparrow would approve. Tropical Martini (recipe) 2 oz. Flor de Cana Rum 1 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur 1/2 oz. pineapple juice 1/2 oz. cranberry juice 1/2 oz. orange Juice 1 orange wedge (garnish) 1 maraschino cherry (garnish) Directions: In a shaker glass, add rum, maraschino liqueur, and fruit juices. Shake briskly then pour mixture into a martini glass. Garnish with a fresh orange wedge and maraschino cherry. Dragonberry Strawberry Mojito (recipe) 2.5 oz. Bacardi Dragonberry Rum 1 oz. Real Strawberry Purée 8 fresh mint leaves 3 lime wedges ½ oz. simple syrup Club soda 1 strawberry (garnish) Directions: In a shaker glass, muddle mint leaves and lime wedges. Add rum, strawberry purée, and simple syrup. Shake briskly then pour mixture over ice into a pint glass. Top with soda water. Garnish with a fresh strawberry. City Cellar is located at 700 S.
