(PRESS RELEASE)_February 13, 2023 (Lake Worth Beach, Fla.) -- The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County has welcomed three new board members and a new ex-officio board member for its 2022-23 season. Cheryl K. Crowley, Phillip Edwards and Stephen E. Jacobs have joined the Cultural Council’s board of directors, while Palm Beach County commissioner Marci Woodward is the newest ex-officio board member. “We are so proud to welcome community leader Cheryl K. Crowley, Citi Private Bank director Phillip Edwards and philanthropist Stephen E. Jacobs to our board of directors, and County commissioner Marci Woodward as our new ex-officio board member,” said Dave Lawrence, the Cultural Council’s president and CEO. “They are all accomplished leaders, and we are so happy to have their guidance on our board. We look forward to working with them as we continue to support arts and culture in The Palm Beaches.” Cheryl K. Crowley is an award-winning public relations executive and founder and owner of ImMEDIAcyPR, a high-profile public relations firm that she ran for 25 years. With more than 32 years of public relations, community relations, journalism and marketing experience, Cheryl is one of the best known and most accomplished public relations professionals in South Florida. Her clients ranged from major national corporations to local non-profit organizations and small businesses. Throughout her career, Cheryl successfully developed and implemented high-visibility media campaigns for her clients. In 2008, President George W. Bush presented her with the U.S. Freedom Corps President's Call to Service Award (the highest volunteer award given by the President of the United States) for her nearly 20 years of public relations and marketing work on behalf of the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. Today, she still maintains one of her longest and dearest PR clients, the Drug Abuse Treatment Association (DATA).
Phillip Edwards is a director and private banker for Citi Private Bank. Based in Palm Beach, Phillip leads a team of professionals who work with ultra-affluent families located throughout the U.S and Europe. Prior to joining Citi, Phillip worked as a senior banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank (where he worked with similar client families) and a senior portfolio strategist for GenSpring Family Offices, where he managed the due diligence, manager selection and portfolio construction activities for the multi-family office. He also served as the portfolio manager for the firm’s multi-strategy fund of hedge fund portfolios. He previously served as vice president with Wilshire Associates (where he was responsible for hedge fund due diligence and portfolio construction) and vice president in the alternative investment division at Banc of America Capital Management, where he was one of the architects of the firm’s hedge fund due diligence and manager selection process. Stephen E. Jacobs is a retired attorney at law. He spent 42 years with Weil, Gotshal and Manges, an international law firm with more than 1200 lawyers and over 20 offices in the U.S., Europe and China, where he retired as a senior partner. He headed the firm’s corporate department for many years and served on the firm’s management committee for over 20 years. He has advised many corporate boards over the years on transactional, finance and governance issues, and currently serves as Vice President and General Counsel for The Citizens Association of Palm Beach and as President of the Bellaria on Palm Beach. He also served for many years as a trustee of the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services in New York City (now an honorary trustee). Marci Woodward is Palm Beach County Commissioner for District 4 and one of four appointed ex-officio board members. A 20-year resident of Boca Raton, she was elected in November 2022 to the commission. Her mission is to invest time, energy and creativity in matters important to the community while fortifying the people, businesses and resources of Palm Beach County. Woodward cares deeply for her community and remains dedicated to representing the people of Palm Beach County. She maintains an open-door policy, welcomes the community's input and looks forward to providing assistance and open communication concerning policy, services and programs. In addition to the Cultural Council, Commissioner Woodward serves on the following boards as a representative of the county commission: Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency, South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (TriRail), Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, CareerSource Palm Beach County and the Value Adjustment Board.
