On Wednesday, we sidled onto a stool at a high-top at Dirty Martini at Downtown at the Gardens. It was Happy Hour, just, and the place only had a few patrons sitting around the bar. The semi-outdoor seating style is very pleasant, and the view is nice. Even on a warm evening, the fans and Mother Nature create a lovely breeze. Momentarily, we were greeted by an attractive (if you have ever been a patron, you quickly realize all the servers are really attractive, and seem to be women of no more than 21 years-of-age) server named Angelia, bearing menus. We exchanged pleasantries, and she was off with our order. She was very nice, and helpful with the menu. No complaints. Still, I do wonder if Dirty Martini marketing research (I am surmising) has proven their customers to be primarily male, who prefer to be served by gorgeous (most of them really are) women. Oh, guys will float out caring the food, and busing tables, but we have never had a super attractive, young male server. Not once, and we have been MANY times over the course of a few years. As Happy Hour wore on a bit, more folks drifted in, and my interest was piqued. As I gazed around, I wondered if management ever considered that the young female customers sipping a lovely libation could, possibly, appreciate the sight of an attractive server in the same tight fitting work attire as the female servers. Of course, the top would need to be adapted, but that is just adding fabric at the top. At any rate, Angelia really was an excellent server, and I tried a Strawberry and Basil martini (all martinis arrive at the table in a small shaker, and the server pours as you watch), truffle fries, and fried goat cheese to start. The goat cheese appetizer, which was accompanied with a beet puree, was perfection (and I know my goat cheese). We always enjoy the fries. On the other hand, my cocktail was a bit too (cloyingly) sweet, so I left it and ordered a Mango Tango martini (Three Olives Mango Vodka, Peach Puree and Fresh Lemon -- $6 during Happy Hour). This drink was fresh and delicious. In conclusion: Nice view. Good food and drink, and the Happy Hour prices are excellent. They should consider the female patrons and toss in a few male servers-it could make the place even more interesting and entertaining! -- PAMELA Comments are closed.
