Our Flavor Palm Beach tour continued with a stop at Cool'A Fishbar -- "a casual tropical restaurant serving fresh locally caught seafood" -- located at Legacy in Palm Beach Gardens. We've always found navigating Legacy something of a maze, but if you can find the big Barnes and Noble off PGA, Cool'A is just down that street. For Flavor month, they offer two versions of their three-course, prix fixe menu. The selections are the same for each, but one includes a glass of their house or well cocktail for $5 a person more ($44.95) vs. without ($39.95). We opted for the former, and started our meal with a gin and tonic. For the appetizer round, Pam selected the hot crab and artichoke dip, while I got the Shaka Shrimp. She loved the dip, but found the accompanying chips too hard and brittle (pita bread would have been a perfect substitute). My shrimp were flavorful, sweet and spicy. We both ordered the Coconut Crusted Yellowtail Snapper as our entree, which came with two sides. Going all in on starch, we got the "famous Cool'A potato" -- a delicious au gratin creation -- and the coconut basmati rice. The snapper had a good taste, and was a large portion, but slightly overcooked and crunchy.
Of course, for dessert Pam went immediately to the Ultimate Chocolate Cake, while I got the Peanut Butter Pie. No complaints on either -- just please bring some to go boxes. If you haven't been there, Flavor Month is a great reason to visit. You won't leave hungry.
