(PRESS RELEASE)_WEST PALM BEACH, FL (February 2023) -- On March 8, 2023, International Women’s Day, Herizon will host its Annual Luncheon at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL.). This year the event also marks the organization’s 20th year anniversary and the luncheon will celebrate two decades of creating long lasting social change for women and girls. Herizon’s mission is and has always been to advance the status of women and girls in Palm Beach and Israel through advocacy, education, leadership development, and strategic grantmaking, and the luncheon will be an opportunity for members, trustees, board of directors, donors and supporters past and present to look back on the impact the organization has had over the last twenty years. Two Decades of Social Change Herizon (formerly JWF) began in 2002, and truly came into its own as an independent organization in 2014, gaining autonomy and with that, the ability to broaden their programs and reach. In 2021 the realization was made that JWF was no longer a fitting name, and in 2022 the organization rebranded themselves as Herizon to epitomize the limitless possibilities for women and girls in the world. A look back on the evolution of the organization shows a remarkable number of accomplishments over the last two decades. They created innovative local programs such as No Small Change, the first ever co-ed philanthropic leadership program teaching teens strategic grantmaking through a gender lens, as well as empowering experiences for women across the world like the recent virtual Money Mavens workshops and the Impact Tuesdays online series.
Herizon’s members and trustees have visited Israel together, joined in women’s rights marches, organized legislative panels, and have enjoyed networking and social events over the years including summer socials, grantee site tours, volunteer opportunities, cocktail happy hours and the annual luncheon gala event. Through event proceeds, donations and gifts received by members, trustees and supporters, Herizon has provided more than $3 million in grants and funding to over 200 projects locally, nationally and in Israel, including a Covid Relief Fund in 2021 and a Reproductive Rights Fund in 2022. The 2023 Annual Luncheon The luncheon opens at 10:30am with one hour of shopping for a cause at women owned boutiques that will be set up in the Kravis Center atrium. A portion of all sales will be donated to Herizon. At 11:30am the luncheon will begin with speeches from the Herizon team, followed by a panel presentation led by WPTV and WFLX’s Hollani Davis, featuring a selection of grantees who will speak about their successes in empowering women and girls and the impact Herizon has had on their organizations. During the event, Alana Faintuch Hoch will receive the Women of Inspiration Leadership Award, Caryn A. Stevens will receive the Rising Star Leadership Award and the Ally Award will be given to Eddie Schmidt and Ozzie Medeiros (owners of Table 26 Palm Beach). “At Herizon we envision a world where gender is not a barrier to safety of success and women and girls have equal social, political, economic, and religious opportunities,” said Herizon CEO Jennifer Kryshka. “This year our annual luncheon is an opportunity to showcase our impact over the last two decades and a chance for us to celebrate the success of our grantees, the growth of our young leaders, and the amazing women who have inspired us, supported us, and who have been a part of the incredible work Herizon has done throughout the years.” Tickets for the 20th Year Celebratory Luncheon start at $200 per guest; full tables are available.
