(PRESS RELEASE)_Portland, ME - 04/24/2023 - Inn at Diamond Cove, recently inducted into Historic Hotels of America®, and Diamond’s Edge Restaurant announce opening dates for the 2023 season. Inn at Diamond Cove will open on May 25, 2023 and is currently accepting reservations through September 30, 2023. Diamond’s Edge Restaurant will open June 1, 2023 with limited hours. Gena McGill has been named Hotel Manager; William McCoy, Corporate Food and Beverage Operations Manager, and Todd Cosgrove, Executive Chef, have also been appointed.

Tucked away on Great Diamond Island in Casco Bay, just a 30-minute ferry ride from Portland’s Old Port district, the historic Inn is the centerpiece of Diamond Cove, a small car-free private island community that was once the site of Fort McKinley. ​Inducted into Historic Hotels of America®, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in March 2023, Inn at Diamond Cove is one of more than 300 hotels and resorts throughout the country recognized for preserving and maintaining its historic integrity, architecture, and ambiance. The Inn is rich in history and architectural integrity. Built between 1891 and 1907, Fort McKinley was once used to defend Portland Harbor during the Spanish-American War. The Inn opened in 2015, following a careful restoration of the historic buildings that preserved its authentic details and original character while transforming the historic barracks into a holiday destination.

Inn at Diamond Cove will offer a traditional breakfast buffet with Starbucks coffee, Grab-n-Go lunch, and a special light bites menu in the evenings at the Lobby Cafe + Bar. The poolside Cabana Bar will feature snacks, sandwiches, cocktails, and more. Guests are invited to a one-of-a-kind waterfront dining experience at Diamond’s Edge Restaurant. Housed in the former Quartermaster’s storehouse overlooking Diamond Cove, the restaurant features local seafood, New England favorites, and amazing views.

Great Diamond Island is not accessible from the mainland by car and primary modes of transportation are golf carts and bicycles. Visitors arrive by ferry, water taxi, or private boat and have access to a full-service marina.
