(PRESS RELEASE)_(West Palm Beach, FL – October 26, 2023) With the mission of Empowering Voters, Defending Democracy, the League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County (LWVPBC) welcomed 220 friends and supporters to its recent I STAND WITH THE LEAGUE Luncheon & Awards. The fun and informative event was held on October 18 at Benvenuto’s in Boynton Beach Tania Rogers, Anchor/Reporter at WPTV News Channel 5, served as the luncheon’s host and emcee, and journalist, editor and political analyst Brian Crowley was the keynote speaker. Luncheon highlights included the presentation of the League’s annual Maverick & Heroes Award to Wendy Sartory Link, Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections; memorial tributes to Nancy Cohen and Corinne Miller by Karen Wilkerson and Mary Jane Range; and an exciting silent auction loaded with fabulous gift baskets and other must-have items such as silverware, entertainment tickets, and colorful handmade quilts. “This event launched the League’s yearlong countdown to the 2024 election: STAND UP FOR DEMOCRACY!, an aggressive yearlong campaign of issue-oriented Hot Topic Luncheons, Spotlight Discussions, voter registration drives, and voter education efforts,” says LWVPBC President Kathi Gundlach.
