(PRESS RELEASE)_(West Palm Beach, FL – May 5, 2021) Rochelle Wolberg, Curator-Director of Mounts Botanical Garden, today thanked the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County for declaring May 9-15, 2021 to be Mounts Botanical Garden Week. The local celebration coincides with National Public Gardens Week (May 7-16), which traditionally begins on the Friday before Mother’s Day. The official proclamation, which was sponsored by Commissioner Mack Bernard and unanimously supported by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, hails Mounts Botanical Garden as “the County’s oldest and largest public botanical garden highlighting the diversity of plants in South Florida and a collection boasting 5,000 species of tropical plants from six continents.” “Mounts Botanical Garden’s mission is to inspire and educate through nature and in partnership with Palm Beach Cooperative Extension, conducts integrated program efforts in horticulture, youth development, public art, and community engagements toward serving the community as an active and responsive civic connector,” according to the proclamation. "Mounts Botanical is celebrating the restorative power that the great outdoors can bring toward uplifting one's spirit, something we need at this time,” says Wolberg. “What better time to do this than during National Public Gardens Week?” After thanking the people of Palm Beach County for their ongoing support, she reminded everyone that “Mounts is here for you, and we encourage everyone to come visit with their families and rediscover a very real, very personal sense of Awe and Wonder!" During the month of May, for example, Mounts is offering 27 informative, healthy and environmental events for all ages, include watercolor workshops, sessions of Qi Jong and Gentle Yoga, guided nature walks, Family & Friends Day, and more, Still available for viewing at Mounts Botanical Garden The awesome and ecology-conscious exhibition Cutting Corners: A Stickwork Exhibition, a massive, willow sculpture located in the Great Lawn area.
