Mounts Garden Hosting Four November Events

(PRESS RELEASE)_(West Palm Beach, FL – October 9, 2018) Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden will be hosting four fun and amazing events throughout November, including the return of the always popular Plant-a-Palooza: Fall Plant Sale, and the opening of a major new exhibition GARDEN OF LIGHTS: A Winter Holiday Event at Mounts.

Plant-a-Palooza: Fall Plant Sale

+ Saturday, November 3 – 9 am to 4 pm
+ Sunday, November 4 – 9 am to 3 pm
Throughout the Garden

FREE for members and children 12 and under; $10 for nonmembers

This two-day annual event features more than 80 vendors with an amazing assortment of quality plants and accessories. Rare and hard-to-find palms, orchids, bamboo, begonias, bromeliads, fruit trees and more are available for purchase. Also, check out the Hibiscus show and the PBC Woodturners with a 300-piece show and sale, and be sure to visit the Mounts Nursery, Garden Shop and Vintage Shop that will be open during all hours of the event.

(Note: Members enjoy early admission and continental breakfast at 8 am on Saturday. Plus enjoy member hospitality during all hours of the sale – shaded area to rest, enjoy complimentary beverages and package check-in service.
Stories in the Garden

Friday, November 9 – 10 to 11 am
Mounts – The Pavilion
FREE

Celebrate the 14th year of Stories in the Garden by bringing young ones (ages 2-6) to these FREE nature-themed programs hosted by the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. They’ll love the interactive stories and songs as well as a tour through some of the specialty gardens. Programs are held rain or shine in the sheltered Pavilion. Reservations are required as availability is limited.

Garden of Lights:
A Winter Holiday Event at Mounts

Opening November 24 and running through December 30
Nightly – 5:30 to 8:30 pm
Throughout the Garden
$10 per person; $5 for children 5 to 12

Mounts will be all a-twinkle in the evenings during the holiday season with thousands of holiday lights hanging from the trees, illuminating the walkways and landmark structures, with colorful LED trees and glowing light-balls, all along an easy-to-follow route throughout 15 different garden areas – the perfect way to light-up the holidays for joyous visitors of every age, romantic disposition, and spiritual leanings. In addition, Mounts will present live dance performances and musical presentations from local schools and academies on select nights during GARDEN OF LIGHTS: A Winter Holiday Event.

Furoshiki:
The Art of Japanese Gift Wrapping


Friday, November 30 – 6 to 7:30 pm
Mounts – Exhibit Hall
$25 for members; $35 for nonmembers

Instructor Reiko Nishioka will lead this fun, new class on the art of Japanese gift wrapping, using a square fabric called Furoshiki. She will discuss the history of the art and demonstrate different wrapping techniques. Participants will receive their own Furoshiki (which is both reusable and eco-friendly) and will learn how to wrap and carry differently shaped items, such as wine bottles. Limited to the first 12 participants.

(Note: There is a $10 material fee payable to the instructor.)
