(PRESS RELEASE)_Olympic swimmer Cherelle Thompson, (representing Trinidad and Tabago) recently visited Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, along with members of Performance Aquatics swim team, before leaving for Japan in order to quarantine and compete. By spending time at the Morikami, she was able to get a taste of Japanese culture in advance of her trip. During her visit, Ms. Thompson paid her respects at the Tanabata tree. Traditionally in Japan, individuals write down their wishes on colorful paper and hang them on a Tanabata bamboo tree. We're pretty sure Cherelle wished for a GOLD medal.
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is located at 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach. For more information, call 561-495-0233 or visit morikami.org.
