(PRESS RELEASE)_WHAT: Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service (Alpert JFS) is assembling and distributing Passover baskets – filled with Matzah, Gefilte Fish, Matzah Ball Soup, Candy, Egg Noodles, Canned Vegetables, and Applesauce – to 160 local households in need on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Passover begins at sunset on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Passover baskets will be provided to 160 households, which represents over 300 individuals. Recipients include: Alpert JFS Kosher food pantry clients, counseling clients, homebound seniors, single parent families, Holocaust Survivors, families who recently lost a job, households that have trouble making ends meet, ALICE households (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), households with three generations, clients experiencing health complications, etc. According to the United Way of Palm Beach County’s 2020 ALICE Report for PBC, 46% of Palm Beach County households struggle to make ends meet. Alpert JFS estimates that there are 15,000 Jewish ALICE households in northern PBC – from Boynton Beach to Jupiter. 20 Alpert JFS volunteers will be assembling and packing the baskets on March 21 and then delivering them later that same day. Alpert JFS creates and delivers holiday baskets for Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving and Passover. WHEN: Tuesday, March 21, 2023
