(PRESS RELEASE)_West Palm Beach, Fla. – Initiated in 2003 by the International Council on Active Aging®, ‘Active Aging Week’ is a weeklong campaign that runs through October 7th and calls attention to and wholeheartedly celebrates the positivity of aging today. 'Pool Pals,' a group of nearly 75 ‘super seniors’ who met at the YMCA of the Palm Beaches make it their business to be "pals" inside and outside of the pool. This group founded by five women who met at a water exercise class at the 'Y' meet weekly and come together for everything from water aerobics to karaoke, and line dancing to volunteering. The group ranges from ‘eternally 16,’ to 92 years young, and while they may share their busy calendar of events through a private Facebook group, it is the moments they share together that keeps these seniors active mentally, emotionally and physically. Active Aging Week showcases the capabilities of older adults as fully participating members of society and spotlights the role models that lead the way. The YMCA of the Palm Beaches is dedicated to creating programs that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development for the entire community in a safe and nurturing environment.
