Power Outage in North Palm Beach

From Ed Cunningham, Communications Manager for the Village of North Palm Beach:

• Two transformers in two separate places  in the Village blew out this morning shortly after 8 a.m., and powerlines came down as a result (Lighthouse & Westwind, and at Harbour Road & Anchorage).
• Police and Fire Depts responded to secure both scenes. There were no injuries.
• FPL notified the Village that 1791 customers were without power.
• A small fire on a piece of patio furniture resulted but was extinguished.
• Fire Dept. responded to help 3 to 4 people who were stuck in elevators – again no injuries or serious problems.
• Some traffic signals lost power. Public is advised to use caution and to treat all malfunctioning or flashing traffic lights like a 4-way stop sign.
• Anyone who sees a downed power line, is urged to stay away and call 911.
  
• Village Hall power went out briefly this morning, but has been restored.
  
• The Village Library and Parks and Recreation office in Anchorage Park had power restored at about 3:15 p.m.
  
• Some people in the Village may still be without power, we are referring to FPL for exact numbers.
  
• Village is waiting to hear from FPL as to why the transformers blew out.
  
• Village has been posting updates on Facebook and Twitter throughout the event.​
