Previewing Farmer's Table at the NPB Clubhouse

The sparkling new North Palm Beach Country Club is only a few days away from its official grand opening, which happens Saturday, Dec. 21. But today, Pam and I got a sneak preview of what the Farmer's Table restaurant will be serving at the club soon.

North Palm residents, like us,  and others are "beta testing" the menu and the facility over the next few days (sorry -- no more testers needed). This was actually our first experience with Farmer's Table, which has become a mainstay in Boca, known for their healthy choices and fresh ingredients. Here's our report:

For starters, this is the Cucumber Avocado "Tartare," served with a ginger-chili lime dressing and flatbread herb crisps. Who knew healthy could taste so great?

This is one of their non-alcoholic "Elixirs," a "mad scientist" concoction to revive and lift your spirits. They call this one the "Butterfly Effect," a mix of passion fruit, butterfly tea, tangerine kombucha, grapefruit juice and organic agave. So good, and don't you love the beaker glass?

This is the "What's Up Doc" Elixir, with organic carrot and pineapple juice, mint leaves, aloe vera nectar, tumeric, ginger, lemon juice and organic apples. Bugs Bunny would approve.

This is the Pastaless Vegetable Lasagna, with organic steamed spinach, Joey's Mom's tomato sauce (Joey Giannuzzi is a co-owner), and vegan mozzarella. Believe me, you won't miss the pasta!

Best for last: Dessert was the best carrot cake we've ever had.

Of course, all meals come with magnificent views of the golf course and awesome sunsets, as well the upscale ambiance of the new clubhouse. How does it compare to the Farmer's Table in Boca? Our server, Jeremiah, said it best: "It's like Farmer's Table meets the White House." After our lunch, Joey Giannuzzi, a co-owner of the restaurant, gave us a tour of the work still in progress.

This will be the main dining room. Above, the bar top is being installed. On the back wall there will be a 100-inch TV. Left, workers prepare to hang four large light fixtures.

On the left are the raised flower beds for growing fresh vegetables and herbs. Right is an outdoor dining/ happy hour area featuring three firepits and a putting green.
