Review: Alcala Deodorizing Body Wipes

What is the purpose of using deodorizing body wipes if a shower is handy?

I will get to that in a moment, but first let me give you a little background information on one specific brand, Alcala Deodorizing Body Wipes. Perhaps you know them or knew them as Hombre Body.

Let’s go back about 10 years when former teachers Steven and Robert met while teaching at a small school in Bologna, Italy. According to their story, they were unsure about their future except for the desire to travel and have some sort of impact.

Collaborating, they combined their skills to form a small company. That company was designed to create high quality, natural ingredients with ethically-sourced products. It was important to them to produce products they would personally use. 

Welcome, Hombre Body, deodorizing body wipes, used mostly by women.

Wait. After some time on the market, it seemed Hombre Body was not the perfect moniker for their customer base. Therefore, when co-founder Steven came upon Mission San Diego de Alcala, a beautiful building in a San Diego neighborhood, built in the late 1700’s, the new name dawned.

Now, about the actual product.

They sent me some to sample, and I was skeptical. Why, do I need this product? Would I ever use it? Would it work?

After using the wipes, I had my answers.

Of course, I need this product, as I travel, a lot, staying fresh is always a good idea. The uses are endless for active or even bed-ridden adults. When on the move, stash a few in a bag, grab a moment to yourself in a lavatory, and fresh as a daisy.

These wipes are large, soothing to the skin. and scented just enough to be pleasing -- not overpowering in the least. They are biodegradable, bamboo wet wipes with aloe, tea tree and  chamomile and can even be used on the face (always do a test before using any new skin product, of course). No water needed, and it leaves no sticky residue. They contain no parabens or alcohol, so forget about drying your skin.

Whether the name was Hombre Body or Alcala, founders Robert and Steve have designed and delivered a product to refresh us when we may need it the most.
