A portion of the book's proceeds were donated to the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County and in attendance was their CEO Kristin Calder. The evening was filled with excitement as guests enjoyed light bites and refreshments in The Green Room at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre while having the unique opportunity to meet and engage with a local author. The event's highlight was an insightful conversation with Ferrari Garcia led by the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive, Andrew Kato, delving into the inspiration and creative process behind "Saving Marina." "It was a special evening to meet so many new faces and share my journey of writing a book," remarked Garcia. "It took me many years to write this book, and I never thought I would publish it, but I finally decided to take the risk and put it out there. It's good to step out of our comfort zones. I heard a quote once that says, 'Vulnerability is our path toward the life we are meant to live.'"
"Saving Marina" has garnered praise from esteemed sources such as American Bookfest and Kirkus Reviews, with the latter noting, "Throughout this novel, Garcia truly excels at conveying rich themes of family, trauma, womanhood, and finding one's sense of purpose on every page." The book was also honored as a 2023 American Fiction Awards Finalist. Born and raised in New Jersey, Garcia's journey led her to sunny South Florida, where she and her architect husband have successfully operated a business for over twenty-five years. The couple's life took an exciting turn as empty nesters when they embarked on the renovation of a historic home in the El Cid neighborhood of West Palm Beach, Florida. The experiences from this renovation, coupled with her life's journey, inspired Garcia to write her debut novel, "Saving Marina."
