When you make the claim, "The Most Interesting Store in the World," that's a high bar. But SHOWFIELDS, newly open in Miami Beach, may just be right.
Located at 530 Lincoln Rd., one look at the exterior tentacles reaching into the air and you know it's not going to be your average shopping experience. Their two-story showroom houses 14,300 square feet of unique merchandise treated as works of art in a series of pop-up shops. This is their second location, the first being in New York.
We'll have more to report once we visit, but in the meantime, here's additional details from their press agency:
"The ultimate curator, SHOWFIELDS brings together the most mission-driven, design-oriented, innovative, unconventional, and relevant brands, artists and communities from around the globe. By supporting local artists, empowering mission-driven brands and connecting these with Miami locals and visitors, SHOWFIELDS is merging the worlds between art and retail in a truly unique way.
"Current installations include:
"Design of the Miami location draws inspiration from the city’s culture and beauty, with orange and pinks woven throughout the space to create a sense of warmth that properly represents its city and inviting culture. The contrasting design of the landmark, heritage building and the modular, modern interior melds the classic Miami aesthetic with a flexible, easy-to-navigate retail experience.
"Mindful to the delicate ecosystem that surrounds it, the interior was designed head-to-toe with sustainability in mind, with all decor, art, fixtures and all freestanding elements, constructed out of sustainable and upcycled materials, while decorative items like chairs and vases were thrifted and repurposed. SHOWFIELDS has also partnered with local vendors to reduce carbon footprint, reducing shipping, and to support the local artists and economy. "
