By GERRY BARKER North Palm Beach Life Take the elevator to the second floor of the Hilton West Palm Beach and down the hallway you'll come to a small sign on the wall that simply says, "The Social -- A Pop-Up Speakeasy." You open a door, walk through some curtains, and suddenly you're in a modern-day version of a 18th century tavern, where you wouldn't be surprised to see Alexander Hamilton imbibing in his favorite beverage. Well, maybe a little surprised. "The Social -- A Pop-Up Speakeasy" is a special, limited-time event that takes its inspiration from Broadway's HAMILTON, now showing at the nearby Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Guests can enjoy specially-crafted cocktails and upscale hors d’oeuvres served by staffers dressed in historical garb, accompanied by the music of vocalist Lily Frazier and guitarist, Adesh. There are four custom cocktails from which to choose, all created and curated by Hilton's lead bartender and master mixologist, Hauk. Each reflects a theme from the hit musical, and include:
Food selections included a charcuterie of cheese and fruit, hummus, crab, coconut shrimp and arancini-style squash. Tickets are $60, plus tax and gratuity, and include two cocktails, food and valet service. My recommendation? I loved the "Blow Us All Away" cocktail, not only for taste but also you'll want to watch as Hauk prepares it. Check out the video. The Social speakeasy will be open Thursday through Saturday, April 11–13, and Thursday through Saturday, April 18–20, from 5 p.m.–10 p.m. You can buy tickets here. Hilton West Palm Beach is located at 600 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach. For more information, call (561) 231-6000 or visit hiltonwestpalmbeach.com. Comments are closed.
