Thanksgiving Tradition at Sandpiper's Cove

It's become our Thanksgiving tradition -- enjoying a Thanksgiving meal at Sandpiper's Cove Restaurant and Bar in Old Port Cove. It's everything you expect, with the bonus of no trips to the grocery store, hours in the kitchen and then more hours cleaning up.

The restaurant itself has a great location: Waterside at Old Port Cove Marina. At Thanksgiving, the wait staff dons elegant attire to match the elegant table settings.

You start with a delicious assortment of cheese, fruit, olives and other foods to whet your appetite, along an extensive wine list. Next, your choice of salad (minus any romaine lettuce, they assured us). The main event is of course a whole turkey, carved for you personally tableside. Add the yams, mashed potatoes, green beans, dressing, gravy and cranberry sauce and your feast is complete. Except leave room for an array of desserts: Pumpkin and pecan pie, ice cream sundaes and homemade donuts.

But the best part? They wrap up your leftover turkey, add the fixings and package it altogether for you to take home.

At just under $50 a person, it has to be the best deal going. We're so full those leftovers may hold us until next Thanksgiving!
