By GERRY BARKER North Palm Beach Life This month marks the 30-year anniversary of Tommy Bahama, the iconic resort brand that now encompasses over 160 locations. And what better way to celebrate than a grand opening of one of their newest at the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens. Located on the second level at the northwest side of the mall, between Nordstrom and Saks. the new store features The Marlin Bar, a relatively new concept that combines a full-service bar with a slimmed-down food menu. At the private grand opening event for media, we were invited to sample the food and drink. For us, it was Deja vu, as we had already made several visits here after it opened a few weeks ago. But we did get to try several new drinks, and food as well. Drink-wise, everything was a winner, starting with their Mai Tai and continuing with their signature drink, the Coconut Cloud Martini, topped with shaved coconut, the Grapefruit Basil Martini -- surprisingly refreshing -- and last, the Guava Lago, which isn't currently on their menu but may be soon. If you want to try it, just ask for Dom -- he'll take good care of you. For food, along with the Nashville Hot Chicken Sliders, there was another one of their staples, Coconut Shrimp, as well Buffalo Cauliflower, Hurricane Tots, Burger Sliders and for dessert, Key Lime Pie and Pina Colada Cake. The bar includes an expansive open-air covered patio, cooled by misters, and live entertainment. Whether you want to unwind from a day of shopping or just looking for a laid-back oasis to socialize with friends, \ The Marlin Bar is just the ticket.
